Dardanos was a small coastal city in the Troad, positioned on the southern shore of the Hellespont near the narrows — strategically vital during the Persian Wars and the decades of Athenian maritime dominance that followed. Its coinage is sparse precisely because the city operated in the economic shadow of nearby Abydos and Lampsakos, both of which issued far more prolifically.
