| 裏面の説明 | Warrior advancing right in an aggressive fighting attitude, wearing a conical helmet and depicted in profile. He carries an oval shield in his raised left hand and a horizontal lance leveled forward in his right hand, leaning into combat. The ethnic inscription ΚΙΕ, an abbreviation for the issuing city of Kierion in Thessaly, appears in the field. The composition conveys dynamic motion consistent with the martial iconographic tradition of Thessalian civic coinage in the early to mid fourth century BC. |

Kierion was a minor Thessalian city in the Histiaiotis region, and its independent silver coinage is correspondingly scarce — the BCD Thessaly collection, one of the most comprehensive assemblages of regional issues ever formed, recorded only a handful of Kierian pieces across all denominations. The city's output was likely curtailed as Macedonian influence over Thessaly tightened through the mid-fourth century under Philip II.
