| Obverse description | Head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet with a prominent upright crest, rendered in archaic Greek style with bold, somewhat schematic features. The helmet encloses the face closely, with the cheekpieces visible flanking the face. The design is set within a plain field, the flan irregular and small as befitting an obol denomination. The overall workmanship is characteristic of Lesbian mint production of the Classical period. |
