Obverse description Nude figure of the youthful Pan standing in three-quarter profile to right, his left foot raised and planted upon a rock; the right hand rests upon his hip while the left arm is bent at the elbow, resting upon the raised knee, with the left hand grasping a scepter or thyrsus set vertically upon the ground to the right. The rendering reflects the archaic-to-classical Arcadian artistic tradition associated with the deity Pan, patron of the region.
