Obverse description Bare head of Apollo facing left, rendered in archaic Greek style with finely detailed wavy hair drawn back from the face. The facial features are naturalistically modeled with a pronounced eye, delicate lips, and a pointed chin. Greek letters appear in the right field adjacent to the hair, constituting part of the civic inscription. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of Massalian hammered coinage of this period.

Reverse description A wheel of four spokes divides the reverse into four equal quadrants, with the hub marked by a central pellet. The ends of each spoke terminate in small pellets or angular hooks, giving the design a distinctive cruciform appearance characteristic of Massalian fractional coinage. The Greek civic abbreviation MA appears in two of the quadrants, identifying the issuing city. The overall design is boldly executed within the plain, irregular flan.
