Obverse description Central Gothic letter B occupying the majority of the field, enclosed within an inner beaded circle. A floral or foliate legend border surrounds the beaded circle, with the mint name BARCANONA (Barcelona) rendered in Latin characters. The overall design is characteristic of the crude hammered coinage of early sixteenth-century Catalonia.

Reverse description Royal Aragonese arms depicted as a plain shield bearing four vertical pales (pallets), representing the traditional four red bars of the Crown of Aragon on a gold field. The shield is centrally placed within a plain circular border. Small pellets are visible in the field to either side of the shield. The design is struck in the characteristically flat and irregular style of hammered billon coinage of the period.
