Reverse description An owl stands three-quarters to the right with head turned facing, its wings folded and talons clearly rendered on the flat ground line. The bird is depicted in the characteristic Athenian-influenced style widely adopted by Italic peoples, with the frontal facial disc a prominent feature. The ethnic legend ΒΡΕΤΤΙΩΝ is inscribed in the field, divided to either side of the owl, in Greek characters. A dotted border frames the design on the irregular flan.
