| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing right, the youthful effigy of the nymph Olympia is rendered in fine archaic-to-classical transitional style, her hair elaborately dressed with parallel incised strands swept back and bound at the nape with a ribbon or sphendone. The delicate facial features — almond-shaped eye, straight nose, and slightly parted lips — are characteristic of mid-4th century BCE Elean coinage artistry. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with the portrait occupying most of the die field. |
