Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of the usurper Vetranio facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style with pronounced facial features and layered paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The emperor's wreath of laurel is clearly articulated, and the cuirass is indicated by the characteristic overlapping plate detail at the chest. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys the military gravitas befitting an emperor who rose from the ranks, with a strong jaw and mature physiognomy consistent with surviving representations of Vetranio.
