Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of the usurper Vetranio facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial portrait style. The legend encircles the bust, reading D N VETRA-NIO P F AVG. A control letter A appears in the field behind the bust, and a star is placed in the field before the face. The portraiture reflects the military character of the emperor, consistent with his brief reign as a soldier-emperor in 350 AD.
