Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Valentinian II, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, with the effigy rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The portrait displays the emperor's youthful features framed by a prominent pearl diadem. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N VALENTIN-IANVS P F AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The coin's small module and irregular flan are typical of the debased nummus coinage of the late fourth century.
