Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian II facing right, depicted as a youthful emperor with elaborately rendered curled hair. The imperial diadem, composed of a beaded band, is visible along the crown of the head. The cuirass is partially draped with a paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. The surrounding field carries the Latin legend D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, disposed clockwise around the periphery of the flan.
