| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Emperor Valentinian I rendered in the military imperial style, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, with the paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy displays characteristic late Roman portraiture with a strong profile and stylised drapery folds over the cuirass. The encircling Latin legend is divided by the bust and runs from lower left to upper right across the field. A beaded border frames the entire obverse design. |
