Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Emperor Valentinian I rendered in profile, adorned with a pearl diadem and dressed in imperial paludamentum (military cloak) draped over cuirassed shoulders. The portrait exhibits the characteristically robust late Roman imperial style, with finely rendered drapery folds at the truncation. The encircling obverse legend, partially legible through surface wear, reads D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG, identifying the emperor as pious and blessed Augustus.
