Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinianus I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style with a pearl diadem clearly visible. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic strong facial features with a defined jawline and prominent brow. The circular Latin legend surrounds the bust and reads D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, identifying the emperor with his titles Dominus Noster, Pius Felix, and Augustus. A beaded border frames the design along the coin's periphery. The flan is irregular in shape, a common characteristic of hammered bronze nummi of this period.
