Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valens facing right, the diadem composed of rosettes and pearls, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The emperor's features are rendered in the late antique portrait style characteristic of the Valentinianic dynasty. The encircling Latin legend reads D N VALENS P F AVG, separated by a dash, set within a beaded border along the coin's irregular flan.

Reverse description The personification of Securitas advancing left, draped in a long flowing garment and wearing a stephane, her right hand holding a wreath above her head and her left hand gathering the fold of her robe. The figure is rendered in the conventional late Roman allegorical style. The divided reverse legend SECVRITAS-REIPVBLICAE encircles the field, with the officina letter and mint mark ANT visible in the exergue, all within a beaded border.
