Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Theodosius I, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The effigy displays the emperor in three-quarter view with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The surrounding Latin legend is distributed across the field, reading from the upper right. The portrait exhibits the stylized, somewhat abstracted treatment typical of late fourth-century bronze coinage, with bold facial features and a prominent pearl diadem.
