| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Theodosius I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The effigy displays the emperor in three-quarter view with a pearl diadem, the drapery and cuirass visible at the truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Theodosius Pius Felix Augustus. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical patination consistent with a small late Roman bronze nummus struck by the hammered technique. |
