Reverse description The reverse depicts a helmeted soldier, identified as the emperor or a military figure, advancing to the right in military attire, dragging a captive barbarian by the hair with his right hand and carrying a labarum or standard in his left hand — a compositional type emblematic of Roman imperial victory imagery. The surrounding legend GLORIA RO-MANORVM proclaims the glory of the Romans. The exergue bears the officina mark of the Thessalonica mint (B or Δ depending on the officina). The design, though worn and partially obscured by encrustation, retains the characteristic late Roman hammered relief style.
