| Beschrijving voorzijde | Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Theodosius I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The diadem is composed of a double row of pearls with a pendant visible behind the neck. The emperor's mantle is fastened at the right shoulder, and the cuirass is visible at the lower truncation. The portrait exhibits a competent, somewhat schematic late antique style. The encircling legend reads D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG, running clockwise around the obverse field. |
