Obverse description Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing slightly three-quarters, the helmet adorned with a diadem, the emperor shown in full military regalia holding a spear over the right shoulder and a decorated round shield at left. The legend DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG encircles the bust in Latin capitals, partially visible on the flan due to the irregular strike. The portrait displays the characteristic late Roman frontal imperial style, rendered with bold, stylized features typical of early fifth-century Eastern Roman mint production.
