In his right hand he holds a thunderbolt directed downward, while his left arm leans upon a long vertical sceptre for support. An eagle stands to the left at his feet, holding a wreath in its beak as a symbol of imperial victory and divine favour. The officina letter B appears in the right field, and the mintmark B SIS is inscribed in the exergue, identifying this as the product of the second officina of the Siscia mint. The surrounding legend IOVI C-ONS-ERVATORI proclaims Jupiter as the guardian and preserver of the emperor. |
