| Reverse description | The Genius of the Roman People stands frontally at centre, head turned to the left, nude save for a chlamys draped over the left shoulder. He wears a modius (grain measure) on his head, symbolising abundance, and holds a patera in his outstretched right hand from which he pours a libation, and a cornucopia in his left arm. The figure is rendered in a classical contrapposto stance on a ground line. The reverse legend GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI is divided on either side of the figure, and the mint mark for Londinium appears in the exergue. The whole design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
