Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Maximianus facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine parallel strokes, draped at the shoulder. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief, displaying the emperor's characteristically robust features. The surrounding legend reads DN MAXIMIANO FELISSIMO SEN AVG, disposed in a continuous arc within a beaded border. The portrait conveys the late Tetrarchic style, marked by a frontality and rigidity typical of the Diocletianic reform coinage struck at Londinium.
