| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximianus facing right, rendered in the characteristically large, broad-headed style associated with the Londinium mint of the Tetrarchic period. The emperor's powerful physiognomy is rendered with pronounced facial features, a short beard, and a radiate laurel wreath of pronounced prongs, conveying imperial authority and military gravitas. The cuirass is depicted in detail at the truncation, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The surrounding legend is inscribed within a beaded border, reading IMP MAXIMIANVS P F AVG in Latin capital letters. |
