Obverse description Bare-headed and draped bust of Licinius II as Caesar facing right, with finely striated hair combed forward over the brow in the style typical of young Tetrarchic princes. The youthful effigy displays a cuirassed or draped shoulder visible at the truncation. The circumferential Latin legend reads LICINIVS IVN NOB CAESAR, running clockwise around the portrait within a beaded border.

Reverse description Mars, depicted nude and advancing to the right, carries a transverse spear in his raised right hand and bears a trophy across his left shoulder, conveying the martial virtue of the imperial armies. The bold reverse legend VIRTVS MI-LITVM DD NN, split either side of the central figure, proclaims the valour of the soldiers of the two Augusti. In the exergue, a dot-framed mintmark identifies the Thessalonica mint and its fifth officina, rendered as •TS•∈•.
