The reverse field is divided by the legend SOLI INV-I-CTO COMITI, with the control mark S-F distributed across the fields to left and right of the deity. The mintmark, together with the officina letter, appears in the exergue, identifying the Rome mint. The reverse type reflects the solar cult actively promoted by Licinius as a counterpart to Constantine's Christian imagery during this period of joint rule. |

The SOLI INVICTO COMITI reverse type was shared across both Constantine and Licinius in this period — a deliberately ambiguous religious formula that committed neither emperor fully to Christianity nor to traditional solar cult. By 315, the two men were barely a year removed from the Battle of Cibalae, and the political détente that followed made such theologically neutral coinage a useful instrument of mutual legitimacy. Rome's mint was producing for a court that was not resident there; Maxentius had been dead five years, and the city's mint operated largely under administrative rather than imperial direction.
