The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features associated with Julian's early coinage as Noble Caesar under Constantius II. The encircling Latin legend reads D N IVLIANVS NOB C, identifying the emperor by name and title. The soldier holds a shield on his left arm and thrusts a spear downward at the enemy. The surrounding Latin legend reads FEL TEMP REPARATIO with the officina letter M to the right. The exergue bears the Siscia mint mark (xSISL, with x denoting the officina), though heavily worn on this specimen. A beaded border surrounds the design. |
