Obverse description Bare-headed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Julian II as Caesar facing right, rendered in the late Constantinian portrait tradition with youthful features; the paludamentum is visible at the shoulder. The obverse legend, reading D N IVLIA-NVS NOB C, encircles the effigy and identifies the subject as a Noble Caesar of the imperial court. The flan exhibits the characteristic irregular outline typical of mid-4th-century struck bronze issues, with moderate surface patination and corrosion consistent with extended burial. Legend commences at lower left and is divided across the field by the portrait. Fine portrait detail is partially obscured by surface wear and encrustation.
