Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Helena (mother of Constantine I) facing right, wearing a pearl diadem, necklace, and imperial mantle. The hair is elaborately waved and ridged, swept back beneath the diadem in the characteristic late Constantinian court style. The bust is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the garment folds and jewellery. The encircling Latin legend reads FL HELENA AVGVSTA, identifying the subject as the Augusta Flavia Julia Helena.

Reverse description Securitas, the personification of Security and Public Safety, stands facing left in full drapery. She lowers a leafy branch with her extended right hand while raising the hem of her robe with her left hand, in a pose of serene authority. The exergue carries the mint mark T★AR, denoting the third officina of the mint of Arelatum. The reverse legend SECVRITAS REIPVBLICE encircles the figure, proclaiming the safety and security of the Roman state.
