Reverse description A frontal camp-gate rendered in schematic late Roman style, depicted with two flanking turrets surmounted by a star placed centrally between them, a characteristic motif of Constantinian and post-Constantinian military coinage. The gateway features multiple horizontal battlements and a central arched portal. The reverse legend SPES ROMANORVM arcs around the type, and the mint mark appears in the exergue. The overall execution is typical of the small, somewhat carelessly struck nummi of the late fourth century.

Additional information

Flavius Victor was the teenage son of the usurper Magnus Maximus, elevated to co-Augustus in 387 to legitimize his father's regime across the western provinces. When Theodosius I marched west to suppress the usurpation, Victor was captured and executed in 388 — likely still an adolescent — making his entire reign a matter of months. The Aquileia mint struck for him only during that final, collapsing window.

RIC IX 55B is among the scarcer nummus types attributable to his brief co-rule.
