| Beschrijving keerzijde | A Roman camp-gate with two turrets is depicted at centre, each turret surmounted by a star, with a double-arched gateway and a latticed facade below. The camp-gate type symbolises imperial military providence and the security of the Roman frontiers. The legend PROVIDEN-TIAE CAESS, meaning 'Providence of the Caesars', is distributed to left and right of the gate. The exergue bears the mint mark SMNB or SMNΓ, denoting the Nicomedia mint and its second or third officina. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |
