| Beschrijving keerzijde | A lighted votive altar inscribed VOT IS XX occupies the central field, surmounted by a globe and flanked by two standards, typifying the BEATA TRANQUILLITAS reverse type introduced at several western mints under Constantine I. The altar rests on a rectangular base, and the standards rise on either side with military decorations. The reverse legend BEATA TRA-NQUILLITAS encircles the design, invoking blessed tranquility. The mint mark PLON appears in the exergue, denoting the officina at Londinium. The overall composition reflects the propagandistic religious imagery favoured by the Constantinian mint workshops in the early fourth century. |
