| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Constantius II as Caesar facing right, rendered in a youthful style with closely cropped hair indicated by fine parallel lines. The effigy is depicted with the neck slightly bare and the drapery visible at the truncation. The encircling obverse legend reads FL IVL CONSTANTIVS NOB C, identifying the subject as Flavius Julius Constantius in his capacity as Noble Caesar. The portrait is executed in the late Constantinian workshop style, with a relatively high relief and firm, confident die engraving characteristic of the Heraclea mint. |
