This type of campgate reverse was a standard Constantinian reverse device symbolising the security and foresight of the imperial administration. The reverse legend PROVIDEN-TIAE CAESS, split on either side of the campgate, pays tribute to the providence of the two Caesars. The mint mark SMH (with officina letter) appears in the exergue. |
