The FEL TEMP REPARATIO ("happy times are here again") series launched in 348 AD to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of Rome's founding, a propagandistic blitz executed simultaneously across nearly every mint in the empire. The Thessalonica mint, designated with the mark TSA through TSE depending on officina, was one of the most active contributors to this flood of bronze coinage — production volume was enormous, and the types circulated deep into the Balkans and beyond.
RIC VIII 107 is the fallen horseman type, among the most widely produced of the FEL TEMP subtypes. The sheer quantity struck means surviving examples are plentiful, but sharply preserved Thessalonica pieces with legible officina marks still reward close attention.
