| Beschrijving keerzijde | A helmeted Roman soldier in full military dress stands facing left, thrusting a spear downward with his right hand into a fallen horseman; a shield may appear on the ground to the right or held in the soldier's left hand. The barbarian horseman, wearing a Phrygian helmet, lies prostrate on the back of his fallen horse, which is turned to the right, while he raises his left hand in a gesture of supplication or defence. This celebrated FEL TEMP REPARATIO type evokes the restoration of Roman military supremacy over barbarian enemies. The mint signature and officina letter appear in the exergue, accompanied by a palm branch to the right of the officina letter and a dot further to the right as an additional control mark. |
