| Reverse description | A helmeted Roman soldier, depicted in full military dress, stands facing left and thrusts a spear downward with his right hand into a fallen horseman below. The horseman, wearing a Phrygian helmet, lies on the back of his horse which is turned to the right on the ground; he raises his left hand in a gesture of supplication or defence. The soldier may carry a shield either grounded at his right side or held in his left hand, depending on the die variety. The reverse type belongs to the well-known FEL TEMP REPARATIO series, with the mint mark and officina letter appearing in the exergue. The encircling legend FEL TEMP REPARATIO is distributed around the design field. |
