正面描述 Right-facing bust of Emperor Constantius II, adorned with a pearl diadem, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style typical of the mid-4th century. The diadem is clearly articulated with a row of pearls, and the paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder. The legend encircles the bust in the field, broken across the obverse. The portrait conveys the stylised rigidity characteristic of Constantinian-era die engraving at the Arelate mint.

附加信息

The FEL TEMP REPARATIO coinage was launched empire-wide in 348 AD to mark the eleven-hundredth anniversary of Rome's founding, though by the time Arelate was striking pieces in this weight class the commemorative pretext had long given way to fiscal necessity. The reduction to this smaller module reflects the currency reforms pressed through after Magnentius's defeat at Mons Seleucus in 353 — Constantius II consolidating both political control over the western mints and the bronze supply that had been disrupted during the usurpation.

Arelate had backed Magnentius. The mint's post-353 output under Constantius carries that uneasy transition in its officina sequences.
