| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts the celebrated FEL TEMP REPARATIO 'fallen horseman' type: a Roman soldier, helmeted and in military dress, stands to the left holding a long spear or standard in his left hand and reaching down with his right to grasp a fallen barbarian horseman, who tumbles from his rearing horse beneath the soldier's feet. The fallen enemy is shown with his horse collapsing to the ground, a composition emblematic of Roman military supremacy over barbarian foes. The encircling legend FEL TEMP REPARATIO is accompanied by the officina mark I in the field. The exergue contains the mint signature, visible as [*]SIS•[*], denoting the Siscia mint, with the entire scene set within a beaded border. |
