| 表面の説明 | Bare-headed and draped bust of Constantius Gallus as Caesar facing right, portrayed as a youthful prince with closely cropped hair and paludamentum visible at the shoulder truncation. The effigy is rendered in the late Roman provincial style, with strong linear modeling typical of mid-4th century Constantinopolitan workmanship. The circumferential legend reads DN FL CL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, disposed around the bust in Latin capitals. The flan shows characteristic irregular edges consistent with hammered production of this period. |

Constantius Gallus was appointed Caesar by his cousin Constantius II in 351, partly to manage the volatile eastern frontier while the emperor dealt with the usurper Magnentius in the west. The FEL TEMP REPARATIO ("happy times restored") coinage was launched that same year as explicit propaganda following Magnentius's defeat — a deliberate statement of dynastic recovery and restored order across a briefly fractured empire. Gallus's tenure as Caesar ended badly; accused of misrule and cruelty by his own administration, he was arrested and executed in 354 on Constantius II's orders.
The Constantinopolis mint attribution for RIC VIII 107 places this piece among issues from the eastern capital, where Gallus nominally held authority.
