Obverse description Radiate, cuirassed bust of Constantine II as Caesar facing left, depicted in military attire with articulated pteryges visible at the shoulder. The radiate crown, a borrowing from earlier radiates, lends the portrait an archaic imperial gravitas unusual for this period. The legend, divided by the bust, encircles the field in capital Latin characters. The portrait style is characteristic of the London mint's workmanship of the early 320s, with confident, slightly stylized relief.
