The VRBS ROMA issue was inaugurated in 330 AD as part of the formal dedication of Constantinople, with Rome and Constantinople each receiving a commemorative type — a pairing that encodes the political fiction of dual imperial capitals in bronze. The Treveri mint, by then somewhat peripheral to imperial power following Constantine's eastward focus, struck RIC VII 547 with the mintmark PTR or STR depending on officina.
These pieces circulated broadly across the northwestern provinces and turn up frequently in Rhineland hoards.
