Two stars appear in the upper field, one to either side, symbolizing divine favour and the celestial origin of Rome's founders. The reverse is anepigraphic, with no surrounding legend, and the mintmark appears in the exergue. The design draws directly on Rome's founding mythology and serves as a powerful commemorative emblem of the Eternal City. |
