| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two Victories, winged and draped, stand facing one another on either side of a decorated altar or shield, each leaning inward to jointly inscribe the votive legend VOT/PR upon it. The altar is ornately rendered with a central lozenge motif flanked by dot borders. The circular reverse legend VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP runs around the periphery, proclaiming the joyful victories of the foremost prince. The mintmark P ARL in the exergue identifies this as a product of the first officina of the Arelatum mint. The composition is well-centred and the figures are rendered in a lively, expressive style typical of Constantinian propaganda coinage. |
