Reverse description Sol Invictus, the Unconquered Sun god, stands facing left in the reverse field, nude or lightly draped, with a radiate crown of rays upon his head. His right hand is raised in a gesture of salutation or benediction, while his left hand holds a globe, symbolising dominion over the world. A six-pointed star or asterisk appears in the left field as a decorative or votive symbol. The reverse legend SOLI INVI-CTO COMITI encircles the design, invoking Sol as the divine companion and protector of the emperor. The mint mark in the exergue denotes production at the Siscia mint.
