Reverse description A Roman camp gate (castellum) depicted frontally at centre, with two projecting turrets surmounted by conical roofs and a star motif above between the towers; the gate features multiple horizontal courses of stonework and a central arched doorway. The reverse legend PROVIDENTIAE AVGG (referring to the foresight of the two Augusti) runs around the periphery. The mint mark appears in the exergue, with workshop variants including PTR and STR for the first and second officinae of the Treveri mint respectively.
