RIC VII 375 belongs to a massive, empire-wide issue launched under Constantine I that flooded the western mints simultaneously — Arelate among them. The GLORIA EXERCITVS types were essentially a propaganda exercise aimed at military loyalty during a period when Constantine was consolidating power after the defeat of Licinius in 324, rewarding the army rhetorically while the state's silver coinage was being quietly debased.
Arelate had only been elevated to imperial mint status in 313, making it one of Constantine's own administrative creations.
