He raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction or salutation, while his left hand holds a globe, symbolizing universal dominion. The letters S and F appear in the left and right fields respectively, denoting the officina designation. The reverse legend SOLI INVICTO COMITI encircles the figure, dedicating the coin to the Invincible Sun as Companion of the emperor, and the mintmark PLN appears in the exergue, identifying the primary officina of the London mint.
