The CONSTANTINOPOLIS commemorative series was struck across multiple mints beginning in 330 AD to mark the formal dedication of Constantinople as the new imperial capital. Treveri — one of the most productive western mints of the late empire — participated in the issue, and the addition of the palm-branch to the reverse Victory figure distinguishes this specific emission from earlier output at the same mint, placing it within the 333–334 window identified in RIC VII.
Treveri had been a favored imperial residence since Diocletian's tetrarchic reorganization and remained administratively significant under Constantine, which likely contributed to the mint's high output and relatively consistent die work during this period.
